2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic Sleeper Picks

The Rocket Mortgage once again fields a strong strong group of golfers and is also an Open Championship qualifying event with two spots up for grabs.

If you are looking for sleeper picks for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, this may be a bit harder tournament to handicap and make picks for since there is no course history to ride and most players will never have played at the Detroit Golf Club.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Golf Course

Detroit Golf Club par 72 – 7,334 yards

The Detroit Golf Club has been redesigned for the Rocket Mortgage Classic and at 7334 yards this course is a middle of the road type of course for most golfers. There are some long holes like the Par 5 - 625 yard second hole that long hitters will find appealing, but short hitters will be aiming for par and so look for sleepers that are longer hitters and focus a bit on driving accuracy stats. The setup won’t be punishing if guys miss the fairway, but you’d rather be hitting off the fairway than out of the rough.

Par 5 Scoring should be a big factor this week since some guys can take advantage of the longer holes. Whoever leads the week in Par 5 Scoring will probably be your winner of the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2020.

The field will be similar to last week’s Travelers Championship with a handful of big name PGA Tour players trying out the new tournament. However, some will opt out and play next week’s new tournament instead with the 3M Open. The big names will be the favorites to win and be very high priced in daily fantasy golf, so for sleepers I would recommend finding guys that in the last few weeks have been making cuts and finishing in the top 30 consistently along with who sits high in the standings for the stats that we have mentioned.
