2018 CJ Cup Sleepers Picks

CJ Cup Sleeper PicksThe CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges made its PGA Tour debut in 2017 and is a strong field considering it is only a 78 player event. The field for the CJ Cup is set up this way:

  • Top 60 available players from the previous season's final FedEx Cup standings
  • Winners of the KPGA Championship and Genesis Championship on the Korean Tour
  • Top next 3 available Korean players from the Official World Golf Ranking
  • Top 3 available players from the Korean Tour order of merit
  • Top available player from the Asian Tour order of merit
  • Top available Korean player from the Asian Tour order of merit
  • 8 sponsor exemptions

Although there are some big names that commit to playing the CJ Cup tournament such as Defending Champion Justin Thomas, Jason Day and Brooks Koepka, there are still many that are playing the European Tour events that week instead. Picking Sleeper Picks can be difficult for the CJ Cup @Nine Bridges because it is a smaller field of players and many of the sleeper picks would be players that we won’t have seen much of because they would play mostly Asian Tour events. If you haven’t done so, this is a great time to try out GolfStats.com which is a go to site for us when it comes to an event like the CJ Cup. They will do the course research for you and give you their sleepers for the CJ Cup which will have more weight behind them then our CJ Cup Sleeper Picks that we do for fun. The PGA Tour season has just started, now’s a great time to join one of the best fantasy golf advice sites GolfStats.com.

Expert Sleeper Picks for the CJ Cup

CJ Cup at Nine Bridges Course

Nine Bridges Golf Club

The Nine Bridges Golf Club course for the CJ Cup proved to be a mixed bag of results. Having top players like Justin Thomas and Marc Leishman at the top show that the best players on the PGA Tour that are in the event have a good shot at winning but there were some big names that shot some HUGE scores (Xander Schauffele +17 and JB Holmes +14) that showed that the course isn’t as easy as last week’s CIMB Classic course. Some of the par 5’s for Nine Bridges are uphill and averaged scored above par for the tournament. Normally you would look for sleepers that score well on Par 5’s but for this tournament that may not matter as much. The best strategy in picking a sleeper for the CJ Cup may be to focus on some of the stats that are more for all around play such as: strokes gained tee to green, strokes gained approaching the green, GIR percentage (greens in regulation) and ball striking.

Remember two other important factors for the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges tournament: It is a no cut event so when looking for fantasy golf sleepers, look for guys that have a realistic shot at winning and not just playing well You will need a bunch of guys in the Top 10 to finish in the money in DFS games. Also, because of tournament being in Korea, take note that tee off is at 7pm Wednesday night so get your lineups in early.

2018 CJ Cup Fantasy Golf Sleeper Picks

SUNGJAE IM - We had Im as one of our sleeper picks in the Safeway Open Sleeper Pick page, and he did not disappoint. The world may have woken up to Sungjae Im a bit after that tournament but he will face some tougher PGA Tour players this week and will get forgotten about by some DFS players. Look for the PGA Tour rookie to make some noise early on in the new season facing easier fields and riding the hot hand that he is right now. As an added incentive, Im considers the Nine Bridges Golf course his "home course".

Joaquin Niemann - Niemann had a solid start to the PGA Tour season at the Safeway Open and will be overlooked with a strong field for the CJ Cup. In a smaller field look for Niemann to make a mark against a field that has some big names in it.

Kevin Chappell - We liked Chappell last week at the CIMB Classic and we like him to once again this PGA Tour season to be a solid golfer after a sub-par last season. Chappell should be a good low cost DFS fantasy golf pick this week for the CJ Cup.
