2021 WGC - FedEx St. Jude Invitational Sleeper Picks and Tournament Preview
The St. Jude Classic has been a staple on the PGA Tour since 1985 and has partnered with FedEx since 1995. In 2019, FedEx took over sponsorship of the World Golf Championships tournament that was the Bridgestone Invitational and now has become the WGC - FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Played at TPC Southwind which is often ranked among the Top US golf courses, the best in the world of golf will compete in the Invitational this week.
Typically the WGC - FedEx St. Jude Invitational has a field of about 75 golfers with invitations being sent out based on the following criteria:
- Golfers that were on the Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup teams (depending on which was played the previous year)
- Top 50 Golfers on the OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) one to two weeks before this year's WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational
- Event winners worldwide in the last year in a tournament with an OWGR Strength of Field Rating of 115 points or more
- The winner of one selected tournament from each of the following: the Asian Tour, Sunshine Tour, PGA Tour of Australasia and two selected tournaments from the Japan Golf Tour
